Global Pursuits Services (GPS) became a reality in 2009. As a boutique tour company it is a culmination of my 30+ years in the international travel industry, and my passion.
I began my tourism career by guiding camping tours across the USA in the early ‘80s. In 1985 I moved to Europe to lead tours for half a dozen years, specifically throughout the (former) USSR/ Scandinavia/ Eastern Europe in the summers, and Southeast Asia in the winters. This also included Asian treks, and working at a ski resort in Andorra. During this time I did a 13-week Asian overland, London to Kathmandu, and annual tours to southern Europe and North Africa.
In the early 1990s I led six-month Africa expeditions, covering over 22 countries from London to Harare, until accepting the position as an operations manager based in London and Nairobi. I then moved to Australia where I worked for an up-and-coming adventure travel company before relocating to Vietnam for three years to open up the Indochina region.
In the late 90s I moved to Boulder, Colorado to join another aspiring travel company, specializing in customized, high-end Asia programs for the American market. At this time I founded the Affinity Travel division, creating programs specifically for alumni associations, museums and conservation groups. My clients include a number of Ivy League schools and renowned museums. I was also responsible for introducing new destinations for the company, such as Bhutan, Mongolia, India, Australia and New Zealand.
GPS specializes in South Asia and Southeast Asia only and focuses on creating private, experiential trips for couples, families and groups of friends. These programs are based on the clients’ personal interests, style of accommodations, activities and budget.
While working on the next big adventure for clients, I now split my time between Asian destinations, Europe, and rediscovering the American West with my wife, Joscelyn. I still reside in Boulder with my wife, daughter… and Portuguese water dog. I hope you will give me the opportunity to arrange a wonderful trip to Asia for you.
